Established in 1881 by Joseph Maino, MAINO CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INCORPORATED
(MCCI)
builds lasting structures. Whether a project is competitively bid or negotiated, MCCI
provides quality construction in the most timely and cost-effective way, using the experience
and traditions of 5 generations of builders.

About Maino Construction Company, Inc.

MCCI takes pride in more than a century of diversified public and private sector construction
projects in industrial, commercial, professional, education, and health care settings. Our broad
range of projects and excellence in workmanship are cornerstones of MCCI.

Commercial

It’s virtually impossible to move about the community of San Luis Obispo without viewing or
entering a building constructed by MCCI in the last 100 years including, but not limited to, the
Carnegie Library (now History Center of SLO), the original Motel Inn, the Wineman Hotel in
downtown SLO, the San Luis Obispo train depot, major projects of restoration and renovation of
Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, the original French Hospital facility on Marsh St., French
Hospital (now Dignity Health) on Johnson Ave., SLO General Hospital, University Square
shopping center on Foothill Blvd., the Sinsheimer Trust Building (now Merrill Lynch), the
Paiarola Bldg (SLO Chamber of Commerce), the Downtown Center and movie theaters, Pacific
Telephone Company at the corner of Mill and Morro Streets, Central Savings & Loan (now
Chase Bank) on Chorro St., and the Telegram-Tribune building on South Higuera.

Government Projects

MCCI has been entrusted with the construction and renovation of significant government
projects along our Central Coast, such as San Luis Obispo Fire Station No. 1, the San Luis Obispo City/County Public Library on Palm Street, the San Luis Obispo City Library (now SLO Rep Theater), the Santa Barbara County Jail located in Santa Maria, the San Luis Obispo Veteran’s Memorial Building, the San Luis Obispo Police Station, the San Luis Obispo County Courthouse Annex, and the San Luis Obispo Main Post Office on Marsh Street. Our commitment to excellence and attention to detail ensure that each project becomes a remarkable landmark that stands the test of time.

Educational Institutions

MCCI has performed work at Cal Poly for more than a century including construction of one of
the three original buildings at Cal Poly, the school’s first residence hall Deuel Dormitory, the
Little Theater (now Spanos Theater), Mott Gym, the Graphic Arts, English & Speech, Science,
Home Economics, and Electrical Engineering buildings, Spanos Stadium, Meat Processing
Center, Upper Sports Field Facilities, Baggett Stadium renovations, University Union and
dormitory renovations, and more. MCCI has also constructed more than 150 individual school
buildings and facilities at elementary schools and high schools throughout San Luis Obispo and
Santa Barbara Counties.
